During September 2010 I was selected to attend a ten day workshop & residency at Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore. This culminated in an exhibition with the 16 other post graduate participants from various art academies & institutions around the world. It was held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore & was curated by
Dr Charles Merewether.
The theme for the 4th Tropical Lab was Urban Mythologies. My research involved observing daily life & photo documenting the multicultural urban environment that is Singapore. Materials were sourced locally by ourselves with the assistance of local students. We only had three days in which to make the work for the exhibition - one lecturer described the workshop as ‘art boot camp’.
This trip to Singapore was a really valuable experience. To work with a group of fellow MFA candidates from around the world with such diverse backgrounds with a tight deadline was very exciting
